Peptitler (Grekçe: πεπτίδια; “bayağı sindirilebilirler”) teşhismlanmış bir düzende, α-amino asitlerin birbirine destelanmasıyla oluşan kısa polimerlerdir.[1] Bir amino hamız lakırtııntısı ile diğeri arasındaki bağ bir “amit bağ” yahut peptit bağı olarak bilinir.[1]
Tetrapeptit (Oligopeptit)
Proteinler polipeptit molekülleridir (yahut çok skorda polipeptit zir birimi çitndırır). Gerçek başkalık peptitlerin kısa, polipeptitlerin/proteinlerin ise uzun olmasıdır.[1]
Protein sentezi sırasında her amino hamız, diğer amino asite kalıcı, kırılmayan bir polimer olan polipeptid zincirleriyle destelanır. Polipeptid gestaltsına taşlıklan amino asitlerin her biri gestaltya peptid destelarıyla destelanır. Peptid bağının oluşumu sırasında amino asitlerden birinin amino grubu ile diğerinin karboksil grubu, aradan bir deniz çıkması sonucu birleşirler.[1]
Averaj bir polipeptit zinciri 450 amino asitten oluşur.[1] Aşina en uzun polipeptit, takribî 27,000 amino asitten oluşan, kas dokusunda bulunan “titin”dir. Polipeptid zincirine taşlıklan amino asitlere lakırtııntı (residue) adı verilir.[1] Zincirin bir ucundaki lakırtııntı, bağ yapmamış, hür amino grubu çitndırır ve N ucu olarak adlandırılır. Aynı şekilde zincirin diğer ucundaki hür α-karboksil grubu olan lakırtııntıya C ucu adı verilir.
